Just before everyone dismisses them, worth remembering that the cornerstone of some of the big party manifestos have been stolen from the MRLP. eg. Passports for animals, 24hr licensing.

I love the MRLP. Every single member who stands pays out £500 (you need 5% to recoup your deposit), and to date I don't think any of them have (checked WIKI, they haven't). That's dedication for you.

Not sure if you're joking or not, but in case you aren't, the "Monster Raving Loony Party" are a satirical party and are not a serious movement, so you can't really compare them to the Tea Party, which although in some ways is extreme, is still a serious political movement with a lot of support behind it.

I also wouldn't dismiss the MRLP as satirical out of hand. They did have peers remember, and as I said, some of their policies have actually been implemented. Sure they look all wacky, and most of them are, but I think if you were to talk to an MRLP candidate you'd find them pretty serious about the issues they were talking about.
