One of the coolest things that ever happened to me involved jazz. When I was in high school, I played the trombone in our school's marching band and symphony. We were pretty good, had about 140 members, and in particular, during my sophomore year the group was extremely talented. Steve Turre (contemporary jazz trombonist, 31-year member of the Saturday Night Live band, and world-renowned conch shell player) was the guest star at one of our concerts. I didn't really get to meet him, sadly, but one of the songs he did with us was Duke Ellington's Black and Tan Fantasy. It was glorious. It's one of my favorite songs ever, and to play it with a legit professional was one of the neatest experiences in my life.

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.
