Oh no, I totally understand WHY he murdered his father. Tyrion is the victim of some serious abuses from his father, his whole life long. It's one thing that makes Tyrion so interesting, that even his own family treats him like garbage, yet he is the best of them. His father was a quiet monster, and we can at least partly blame Cersie's messed up world view on Tywin as well, really.
(And in the TV show we don't even get the horrid EXTRA backstory on Tysha from Jamie. I wonder if that will ever be included in the TV show? He's looking for her...will he find her and find the truth?)
Shae never cared about Tyrion, she was just using him to get shiny baubles and a silk sheets and pretty dresses. So yea, I understand Tyrion's motivations and am sympathetic, that's why they better not kill him off lightly. He's one of, if not THE, most nuanced characters in the series.
