My poor husband can't keep track of some of the stories at all though. He forgot who Theon even was to begin with, though he remembers him being tortured. He told me, if I wasn't so into it he wouldn't bother watching it unless he was in the mood for a little softcore porn.
It makes me wonder how much I would love the show if I hadn't read the books. Would I have the same issue? I tried to explain to him who Lyanna was and how her kidnapping caused the rebellion that lead to the overthrow of the mad king, what Danaery's relationship to him was, why Dorn is involved and so forth, and he just got frustrated and said he doesn't really care, too much politics in a TV show for him.
Ah well, I still enjoy it all.
