I love Sid Meier's Civilization games (plus Colonization and Alpha Centauri), especially Civ II. Unfortunately I switched from Windows XP to Linux and can't get it to work (and it didn't work in Win 7 either) - though I can just about play Colonization in DosBox. As far as I know Sid Meier stopped being involved from Civ 3 onwards so nowadays they're just using his name to sell it. I've tried Civ 3 but it just wasn't the same although it was quite good. Haven't tried anything above that and doubt I'll be able to under Linux?
