Okay, it sure seemed like you cared when you said, "An answer that will blow the atheist theme to smithereens!".
Quote:I have nothing to prove either. I just want to put a dent your armor... so to speak. And you in mine! I'm all ears. I've said from the beginning on this forum; I'm not evangelizing, or preaching. I'm here for someone to tear down my faith. So far, its only been strengthened.
The only thing that would put a dent in my armor is for you to provide evidence and reasoned argument to support claims that a god exists.
It is entirely possible that your faith can not be torn down. The reason? You believe faith has more merit than the lack of evidence for your god beliefs.
You think that believing based on faith is a good thing.
Quote:Lets face it.... there isn't much in the way of "proof" for either of us. But existence itself is a more compelling argument for God, than against. If you are NOT claiming God doesn't exist, your argument is worthless. Because, if there is a God.... He makes the rules. Not you. Nor I. A better thing to do is search for reasons, than to sit around arguing and complaining.
The thing is, I do not need proof for my position. I am not claiming that gods do no not exist. The only thing I need is for theists to continue to provide unconvincing arguments and evidence.
Quote:As I tried unsuccessfully to point out.... "why" is a better question, than "why not". I mean even Einstein said, "science was nothing without imagination." And he basically theorized relativity from his sofa. It took 3 others to actually prove it years later.
Einstein? Seriously...
Einstein also said this, "The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this.".
Quote:Atheists look at everything based on mans understanding of the universe..... which is logic from a tiny dark box! To quote Thomas Edison, "we don't know one millionth of a percent about anything."
All we have is our understanding of the universe.
And if new evidence is found to support the existence of a god in that "one millionth of a percent ", that's when I will start believing it. Not a second before.
Quote:For atheists there is no accounting for the vastly superior intelligence of a God who created the universe. That baffles me!
No, for atheists, there is drastically insufficient evidence to justify belief in a god. Trying to apply attributes (superior intelligence) to something we disbelieve in, is silly.
I get the idea that there is quite a bit that baffles you. Two examples: basic logic, and what constitutes good evidence.
Quote:Doesn't it make more sense to try and understand God together, than to end every serious debate with a rude joke, or insult? My take on the childish shit is, the only one who is really laughing is the really, really smart guy.
As soon as you, or any other theists, provides demonstrable evidence and reasoned argument to support the existence of a god, then, and only then will I attempt to "understand God". Why should I try to understand something that is indistinguishable from being nonexistent?
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
