These wackadoodles exist. Theocracy Watch I think you overstate their threat, though. They would need to pass a number of constitutional amendments to come close to accomplishing their goals and that simply isn't going to happen. The bar to pass an amendment is high enough that nothing controversial will get through. The biggest thing we have to worry about is some weakening of church-state separation as a result of a Republican President replacing liberal judges with conservative ones.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
