But, many for me!Just to clarify, I do get answers regarding god and the universe and the purpose of it all. They're just not the same ones you get. I think that the concept of 'ask, seek, and knock' works as a system of self-improvement and it relies on belief to work best. That belief doesn't have to be in god. It can be in the self, or in humanity, or anything else that we want to make better. I think that the way our minds works makes religious belief a predictable phenomenon, in the same way that other forms of tribalism exist, including some that seem like a parody if people didn't take them so seriously (sports fanaticism being a prime example).
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
