If you spoke a second language or even grown up around one, you would know that you can not translate a passage or idea directly that vast majority of the time. Grammar syntax and the cultural idioms do not translate. Hence the term lost in translation. When one translates they have one of two options. a literal translation where the message is corrected for grammatical and contextual errors into the translated language, or a contextual translation where one tries to interpret the idea of the original text. The bible (most of them) are translated literally. When one does this a lot of the suttle text is lost. If again you would look at a couple of chapters of 'Answers' to the annotated bible you will see those types of explainations/Answers given to supposed contradictions.(June 15, 2015 at 5:24 pm)Drich Wrote: Those seem to be take off's of the more popular Skeptics annodated bible.
To which there are several websites dedicated to answering those 'contradictions'
http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/christian.html
http://www.berenddeboer.net/sab/index.html
Since you want someone to do all of your research for you, I will gladly step aside and do the same. Above are two links that in detail go line by line and answer every single issue the SAB comes up with. Not only that in the first link has a list of links that in detail analizes the SAB and web sites like it (evil bible) and with a great effort show how they fail completely.
However if you have some specific points you wish to discuss, even if it is based off someone else's work, put that 'contradiction' into your own words next time and I will inturn do the same with your answer. Post block text or links and again I will do the same.
Not my first rodeo sport I will put in the same effort you are willing to expend. (Google works for Christian too.)
That wasn't what I meant. I'm not asking you to take every single one of those and talk about it
I mean: explain how it is possible that there could be long lists of very human like errors in a book that is meant to be not only divinely inspired but infallible? Where do you reckon these lists of contradictions come from?
IOW, if this is the word of god, how come one can find so many problems with it? You would think that it would be written in such a way as to make it as clear as possible what the message is, no?
Websites like the SAB and Evil bible play on ignorance and the idea that most of you have; The bible was written originally in King James English. Otherwise why would it only look at the surface/English translation as a point of comparison? Without a doubt these types of annotations make for very lazy ill informed apologetics. The authors know this, but do not care. Why? Because it tickles the ears of those who have been conditioned to think in sound bites and those who look for truth in just sheer volume. (as you do.) Look at your post to me. You asked if the bible was the word of God why how could someone find so many errors... Never mind the fact that those supposed errors are fallacious in nature or the fact that I provided you with tools to seek the truth if you really wanted it.. No you heart and mind was won over with this propaganda simply because you want to believe it, and you point to the sheer volume of content as if it were some measure legitimacy even in the face of a well research response. In short you are not looking for truth, your looking to justify what you already want to believe despite what the truth of the matter is. That is why the supposed 'contradictions' of the SAB and EB have so much to say to you.
