U2 does not advertise themselves as a Christian rock band. They don't do that because they don't need to do that. They are good enough to sell their music anyway. Christian rock bands that are complete worthless garbage advertise themselves as "Christian" in order to sell to people who wish to make sure that they are avoiding "bad" influences. If they were actually good, they would not need to advertise themselves as "Christian." If they were actually good, then people would buy their music without such a gimmick, without that special advertising to get into a niche market.
That's about ridiculous, they are telling people who they are and what they represent. If what you say were true the rock bands would have never had to call themselves rock band, their music should have stood on it's own merit and wouldn't have been pointed directly at a new audience, Kids. U2 doesn't hide the fact of Christian belief either. As I stated earlier there have been many musically talented rock bands, morally most leave not much to be desired for the Christian.

Because having an orgy with crack whores is the mark of a good Christian man. Bono might make a big deal of his dealings with the third world and be generous in his handouts, he might even have included a few divine references in one or two of his songs but hey so do most Artists. You gonna try and tell me because Lady Gaga sang Alejandro she's now a Christian Pop genre singer? I mean she even banged a crucifix while doing it, that's gotta be extra points right?
