I am glad I did not say the wrong things when I was in Iceland before. I had no idea that they had blasphemy laws when I was there.
But my normal approach when visiting foreign lands works well. I do not tend to talk about religion when I am abroad, and I do not tend to talk about local politics either. I know that most places do not have the same freedom of speech laws of the U.S., and tend to try to avoid controversial matters. I am not visiting other countries for any of those purposes, and so it is easy enough for me to avoid problems most of the time. Also, there are some countries that I would never visit, as I would not feel safe in them at all, which is another way to avoid problems when traveling abroad. (Every now and then, one reads an article about some serious problems that people run into in some primitive backwater, and, most of the time, while thinking it is terrible what is happening to the unfortunate people, I also am thinking that they were extremely stupid going to that country and doing what they did there. For example, going to a country that has the death penalty for illegal drugs and then using illegal drugs there is the action of a moron, even though there ought not be such penalties for such things.)
I am glad of the change for Iceland, even though I have no particular plans for going there again. I also have no plans on trying to avoid Iceland, either, and this change only makes Iceland more attractive.
