Let me try to explain this a little better.
The thing is, you're trying to say I'm contradicting my faith in thinking that life is sacred. But you're doing so by providing me with things that are not Church Doctrine. Regardless of what stories are in the OT, the Church does have an infallible teaching that life is sacred, and you can look that up for yourself in the Catechism if you'd like. So I am not going against my faith by saying that it is lol.
Now, just to be clear, this does not mean that we believe the OT is completely irrelevant and needs to be ignored. It just means it has its limitations and cannot be taken as any sort of infallible document. There are many stories in the Old Testament that line up with Church teaching and that serve as a good example and life lesson.
As for a homosexual orientation, the Church teaches that though we do not know for sure what causes a person to be attracted to people of the same sex (whether genetic or environmental), it is not something that is freely chosen and thus cannot be said to be a sin in and of itself. The Church does teach though that any sexual activity outside of consenting husband and wife is contrary to Christian moral laws. Regardless of whether you are the same sex or opposite sex.
I hope this helps clear it up for you.
So, now that same sex marriage is legal and viable for homosexuals in the US, is the church going to back married homosexuals?
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
