There are advantages to going it alone in terms of focus and honest appraisal. It would also give you a chance to see what erotic imagery and narrative arises by really tuning in. Don't let sex be merely a physical thing. The mind is the most important sex organ. The only harm in porn* is that it can smother your own imagination. I wonder what catholic marriage counselors advise?

I definitely don't see sex as merely a physical thing, but as a spiritual and emotional thing as well... though I think in different ways than what you mean here.
I respect your opinion, but I just really don't agree that it's not possible to have those same advantages through actually having sex. If you are together with your spouse for a lifetime and you take your time and practice open and honest communication in the bedroom, I absolutely think you can have all these advantages.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
