I am in favor of anything resembling continuous engagement with the Iranians on important issues. Iran is a young country, in terms of its demographics, and there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that the younger Iranians are not necessarily on board with the ruling generation. Always remember: you have not converted a man because you have silenced him. The younger Iranians might surprise all of us by proving to be better republicans than many in the West once they come of age to take power.
We should be eager position ourselves any way we can to have a fruitful relationship with the Iranians when/if that day comes. Continuing the rhetoric of the Bush years ("axis of evil") won't take us far down that road.
And I agree with Min's earlier observation that he is tired of the Israeli tail wagging the American dog.
