Well it's not an amazing thing. The Ancient Egyptians built their pyramids with more precision than we use when orientating to the cardinal points to modern buildings. Not only is it amazing they could actually find true north, what's even more remarkable is the precision of their building. Now that's an amazing thing. Not to mention their persistent use of the ratio of Pi in the pyramid designs. Put those two facts together and you'd conclude that they knew the earth was round - so therefore someone figuring out the same thing over 3,000 years later is completely unremarkable. The great pyramid was built more than a thousand years before Pi was "discovered", yet its base to height ratio is 2Pi with an error of about 0.03%.
Sorry but your "egg shaped earth" is nothing special.
