Kingpin, you are my favorite theist on here. I seem very harsh (and harsh to most theists when talking about religion) on here sometimes, mostly because theists can't seem to grasp certain ideas, not to mention the dishonesty (and I can quote what I mean, but it still does nothing <not directed towards you>), but I mean no personal offense to you. Also, because of the evil religion does, the evil contained in the doctrines, and the evil executed because of what's in those doctrines. I honestly feel that things like judaism, islam, and christianity are heavily detrimental to society (and I can back this up with an innumerable amount of material), but it seems like you have a firmer grasp on the real world, and I would like to extend my kudos to you for that. You seem like a great guy. I feel you're almost there, because I offer you kudos for reading things like the God Delusion. I feel you would benefit from The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution, because of some of the angles on evolution that you were talking about it the other day. It seems you still lean to presuppositions on certain things, but I get it, you're a christian. I, also, commend you on trying to read things on both sides, as I still do. I happily watched those apologists you told me about, and enjoyed them, but there just isn't enough for me there to go on. I honestly wish that many people could erase what's in their minds completely about religion, and pretend they just picked up the bible for the first time as an adult, going by what they understand about science, reason, and logic and look at it again. If people could do that, I feel, most of them would lose the religion pretty damned quick. 99.9% of scientists accepts evolution as fact. You can look at our skulls and skeletons, and line them up millions of years back, and see small changes over time. Although, I know the 99.9% drops when talking about how humans evolved.

I hope you can actually see where atheists are coming from when making fun of the jesus story, and the bible in general, because I knew when I was a devout catholic how the story sounded. I didn't want to talk about it at with non-religious friends, but I finally took that step from, knowing how ridiculous it sounded, to not believing in it because of how ridiculous it sounded. Before I ramble on too long about things that have no relevance to anything, I just want to say that you're a good dude and you can actually see how wrong it is to have just one religion on a public building. It seems like you'd be for taking them down, because they don't belong on public property, and I can commend you on that even more so, because you're a christian telling it like it is in that scenario. You realize that one religion shouldn't have special treatment unlike most theists on here. Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words Sal.  I may be unique to most on here because I do actually fit in to your category of not being indoctrinated as a child and not picking up a Bible until I was 18.  However, I just came to a different conclusion than what you believe.  I am intellectually honest and open-minded.  I do read and listen to all sides of arguments because I feel that is the ONLY way to make a sound judgment on a point of contention.

I do call it how I see it and I am all for the rights of citizens without prejudice.  Whether it is a Christian group/person or not, if they are in the wrong, I don't have a problem stating so.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.
