The text was crafted to say that the trump campaign hadn't conspired with the fsb, in effect. Conspiring with a bunch of shady russians with alleged ties to the fsb who were trying to ratfuck our elections..but, from the point of view of trump - for personal profit- ..for example...gives just enough wiggle room.
Our poor beleaguered President Pappy With The Good Brain can (and does ) play the victim, lol. Idiot or Traitor. I think I'd go with the idiot defense myself, in that position.
The idea that he didn't obstruct justice, which is barr/rosensteins alone, is based on that very narrow framing. If he didn't "collude" then he didn't obstruct - which is going to be a hell of a shock to people who were charged and convicted with obstruction without being convicted of any underlying crime. OFC, it's been barrs position since before he was hired that a president -can't- obstruct, no matter what he does.
Now, we've got reds saying that we should just burn up the actual mueller report, a test bubble being floated for some new investigation into her emails to bury the story, calls for resignations, and stonewalling from the admins lawyers about the release of the underlying documents. The idea is to turn the barr letter into the mueller report. To make it politically costly for anyone to see or advocate for the public being informed of what the investigation turned up. It was always going to be this way, it was always going to go to congress..the doj wasn't going to indict a president.
Barr did the thing he was hired to do, he telegraphed those intentions. Now we just have to watch the circus play out.
