I couldn't agree more. The three religions of Abraham, Jewish, Christian and Islam, were not the first religions to come up with punishment/reward motifs for an afterlife. Polytheism has far older motifs than those.
And even Hindus and Buddhists have their own afterlife superstitions too.
In Hinduism and Buddhism, "hell" is replaced with the reward punishment motif of reincarnation. If you are good, you become a higher form of life in the next life. If you are bad you become a lower form of life in the next life. And both Buddhists and Hindus also have their brands of ancestor worship as well.
