In Indonesia in the 1960s there was an (american backed) genocide of the countries communists.
There was a documentary crew a few years ago that wanted to interview some victims of the atrocities but the they were told it would be too problematic as the people who committed the atrocities were still in charge.
So they came up with the idea of asking the perpetrators to describe what they'd done.
Turns out, because there was absolutely no way they'd ever get in trouble for it they were only too keen to tell their stories.
So these now old men told and sometimes acted out how they killed because they were proud of what they'd done.
