It would be interesting to take a survey among modern religious people on this subject.
I suspect that religion is important for their lives in many ways. Socially, morally, emotionally; community, solidarity, mutual support.
Sure. All of the above.
Our natural insecurity of not being in a tribe/religion, has us hide behind our gangs banner or cross.
I have no problem with that unless, as shown by the religious and political right, they put their affiliations ahead of their moral sense.
It is easy to see they have as the idol worship a genocidal satanic god.
That is equivalent to the right holding their noses as they voted Trump in.
We all know how well that worked out for the U.S. by their death tole and increased poverty.
As to the survey you want, most Christians are not naturalists. They are brain dead supernaturalists.
