Does talking on this forum affect our opinions? Slowly and in small ways, but YES. I actually like that almost every OP has people disagreeing with it 
But imagine if I hated a certain group, and so did all my friends, and I go onto an algorithm-based social media site that tells me that 99% of those that I read agree with me? Not only that, it fed me a stream of conspiracies and lies that fed my insecurities and preconceptions?
I don't go on social media. This is as close as it gets.
