Ok, so the bad guys are cleaver in holding the airport hostage, and keeping the planes in the sky as hostages. But their escape plan was forcing the airport to provide a jumbo jet to allow the bad guys to escape. Ok, fine, but what happens in the script? McClain jumps on the wing of the jet, fights the bad guy, releases the gas cap on the wing, and lights it on fire, which defies gravity and blows the bad guys up.
Ok fine. But even if he had not done that, and the jet took off what would stop military jets from shooting it down?
Bruce Willis was paid - adjusted for inflation - about $16 million for ‘Die Hard 2’. When you’re paying the star that much, he gets to blow up the plane.
