I have to disagree, and not going to argue but...
The Road, Silence of the Lambs, The Thing, Trainspotting, Ex-Drummer, Children Of Men, Das Boot, The Godfather and hundreds more.
So you can say that you've never seen any movie based on a book that you liked?
Oh, and Angela's Ashes is an autobiography, not a novel, unless in Germany "novel" means something very different from what it means to us yanks.
Of course, I do agree with you: The Tourist is definitely big a step down.
