I agree with most of that accept the "ungrateful" part. I don't think it is ungratefull, for example, just because you raise a child for them to come to their own conclusions or want something different than you. I understand what you are saying, but that is an ambiguous can of worms that often leads to appeal to authority, and that isn't aways good. But I do like the rest of it.
Authority as as an atult can only match the compassionate side of evolution when it is via consent. Appeal to authority without that consent is the dark side of evolution.
