Yes, that's true (and kudos to your pasta for being at least knowledgeable about proper Trek!)
There is a flaw, though, in his analogy; which is that xtians believe they actually do have such a button. It may not disintegrate people but its invisible, watchful presence is supposed to be there in the background, just waiting to strike the unwary and the unrepentant. As such, they fear it just as much as the characters in the episode fear Bad Kirk's button. Maybe try that one on your pasta? I'd be very interested to hear what he says.
