In times like this I feel I should thank you all. For showing me that America isn't only it's politics and the ones running the show, but the people.
During the 80ies I was pretty Anti American, having only access to papers and tv to tell me the news. And my relatives, who were nice but pretty loud mouthed. But especially since the Bush years and the access to internet I learned that there's another America. One that stands up to what the country's supposed to be, and most of all ordinary people being as concerned as everyone on this planet.
So, I found out that I can find at least some common ground with all of you. Even the ones I usually don't agree with. There are a few beyond redemption, but, to only name one example. Even A Theist is deserving of my respect sometimes. Although I hate his guts for his political views.

Well, America has just became vastly more deserving of your 1980s attitude towards her than she had been during the 1980s. You are out of phase.

Unfortunately, the side that "stands up for what America is supposed to be" doesn't stand up on voting day.

Now, if only we could make this rude contraption of so many people, language, religion and culture diversity together (the EU), we could add another brick in human civilization. Tough job.
