You might be unaware that mods cannot view other user's ignore lists. Given how heavily we use PMs to do our jobs, not being able to contact a member by PM is very problematic.
With no disrespect intended, if you haven't been on the operational side of the forum, you're really not in a position to judge what would or would not create more problems.
We can't put any of the general membership on ignore either - for the same reason: it interferes with moderation and administration of the forum. That in my opinion trumps a member's inability to scroll past what they do not wish to read or respond to.
