Why is having a mod on the ignore list against rules?

I think most people would agree that being able to just ignore those in charge is rather silly.

Quote:Generally speaking I don't use ignore lists, however those that do should be allowed to ignore mods, if those mods are participating in the discussions with members.
Are you in favour of being able to ignore the police too? That is effectively what you are arguing here, and I find it rather absurd.

Quote:It shouldn't interfere with your ability to moderate because: a. you can still edit the posts of the person, b. before contacting people by PM it's my understanding that you would ordinarily consult with other mods anyway - meaning any one of them could PM instead, and c. importantly it lets you know that the person on the ignore list probably shouldn't be the mod to send a PM to someone. Finally d. if there is such an important matter that requires that the mod on the ignore list must personally PM someone, surely they could just modify their profile to un-ignore themself before sending the PM?
All of those points are voided by the fact that:

a) If a person ignored every member of staff, then nobody can contact that person.
b) Certain members of staff make regular announcements about rule changes, updates, etc.
c) It should not be up to the staff to figure out who should issue a warning or send a PM, because a member has decided he doesn't like one of them.

I'm actually wondering whether we should just disable the ignore system completely. Most forums don't have it, and if you cannot just ignore someone on your own, you have such a low level of mental power that you shouldn't really be debating issues on the internet anyway.

Quote:With all due respect, if he doesn't want to see you pushing his buttons, surely he should be allowed to utilize the ignore function? I haven't seen you give a convincing argument as to why having you, or another mod, on an ignore list would create a larger problem than the one that it might solve?
He agreed to the rules when he signed up. It isn't my fault that he didn't even bother to read them. He's a fucking idiot.

There are plenty of people here that I would absolutely love to put on an ignore list, but I don't, because (a) I need to monitor what they say as a member of staff, and (b) I have adequate mental capability to just ignore what they say about me anyway, without the need to resort to technology.
