Yahweh began as just another minor member of the Mesopotamian Parthenon. The Jewish people were polytheistic until at least the 4th century BC. There is evidence to support this both within the pages of the Old Testament and the Elephantine Papyri. Archeology tells us the Yahweh figure even had a mother figure consort well after the time most Christians claim the Jews were fully monotheistic.
