Seriously, how is anyone dumb enough to be fat?

Yeah I thought I'd post this in the quintessential format that atheists choose on the Religion forum. It really does my head in.

What I've learned so far disturbs me greatly. People are so, so dumb.

I know people who worry about their weight, but don't do anything to change their destructive/unhealthy lifestyles! It's like they never bothered learning nutrition and they don't want to learn it now.

This is what I've learned: people are extremely ignorant. In fact they're so unaware that they try "fad diets" with no concept as to why it would or wouldn't work. They say that they want to lose weight - but don't even bother to make the easy small changes to their eating habits that would guarantee it!!

Like true, I don't really understand how my car engine works and that's why I let a mechanic take care of it - but we're talking about our bodies, how do people not take proper care of their own bodies???

So seriously, how is it that people are so, so dumb??

Why do you even care? You're slim and trim, aren't you? So am I. Why do you give a rat's charbroiled arse if the bloke down the road is a great wobble-bottom? It isn't any of your business.

This is just one more aspect of religious (in your case, CofE) intolerance. People have a belief, or a habit, or a lifestyle that you don't like, and they're suddenly 'dumb'. And now you've managed to add body types to the list of things upon which you can heap your holier-than-thou sanctimony. What happen - you run out of things to condemn people for?

You clearly don't care about the (very real) health issues associated with obesity. If you did, you might live up to that 'love thy neighbor as thyself' line you're always cramming down everyone else's throat and actually get up off the Judean side of your arse and try to help someone. But oh, no! It's ever so much simpler to just call people 'ignorant' and do nothing. Well, mate, ignorance is curable. How often to you offer exercise and nutrition tips to people whose weight bothers you? You clearly know a lot about these topics: ever thought of volunteering as a weight-loss counselor, or even putting out a news letter? If not, why not? I suspect it may be because you actually enjoy pointing a metaphorical finger at fatties and thinking 'Neener, neener, I'm smarter and better than you!' Typical Christian.

I sincerely hope the next bucket of granola you wolf down gets lodged in your windpipe, and the Heimlich that saves you is administered by a 20 stone Muslim.
