As I said consciousness is not abstract, the mind is a physical brain and what do you mean how can consciousness be sensed? It's all we can ever sense! Our consciousness is the sum total of all the subjective experiences we are aware of. It is our subjectivity itself. It's the one thing we know must exist because we are conscious of it so of course it can be sensed... it must be sensed. It is all forms of sensation and experience itself. It's the very opposite of abstract. It's the fact the lights are on. It's us the experiencer - which is not separate from the experience at all, they are one and the same thing, which is why the ego is an illusion.
You see Evie.
The more you try to get out your confusion the more you sink in the quick sands.
Your problem is that you keep on presuming using the usual physical reality.
The consciousness grow or diminish according our experiences but is not the sum of experiences.
We are fully connected to this physical reality but we are not physical.
Or better say Our consciousness is not our body.
We may feel we are our body because we are stuck in it, that's all.
It is the illusion that play the trick.
