How is that the fault of pc or sjw....in any case? Sounds like a thin skinned cop problem to me. More than that, I find it amusing that cops would be so sensitive to being called racists, when they don't mind actually -being- instruments of institutional racism?
The police that BLM have identified as the problems are the ones that beat darkies like hotcakes, or worse.......that's not preventing crime, it -is- a crime. I;'ll say this, though, you see this as an unintended consequence. I don't. The cops are protesting oversight by failing to perform their duties. It's dereliction, and it's not exactly unintentional. More an issue of "well, fuck em them" than "how on earth could this have happened?". The cops don';t prevent crime in the first place, so this all seems like a giant steaming pile of excuses for dirtbag cops, you know, we just need them so much that some dirtbaggery is to be expected and brunted.
Cops are human beings and will react just like any other human being to vilification and threats.
In Chicago cops are running into dangerous situations. When they are investigating a B&E for instance, people are gathering around them, harassing them, insulting them, threatening them, sometimes firing shots down the street just to make them nervous so they can be laughed at as they run around in fear trying to figure out whats going on. That's not oversight. That is behavior guaranteed to ensure the slow down in the performance of their duties just as we are seeing.
Also, the numbers just don't show that racism is as big a problem as is assumed. Last year about 100 unarmed black people were killed by the cops and about the same number of unarmed white people. Taking racial crime rates and population into account those numbers don't point to racism as an overarching problem. What they say is that when there are millions of encounters with armed police, people of whatever race sometimes get shot. I'm not being flippant about this and am not Ok with people being shot, but again the sheer volume of encounters in the presence of guns doesn't make these numbers that weird.
Again, I'm not saying that racism is a non factor, just that it's not the be all and end all of these problems and that the vilification of a million cops because of the actions of a handful is quite clearly the wrong course of action. Chicago is living proof of this, so it does appear that cops do in fact prevent crime contrary to your assertion.
As I said, I understand the emotional reaction here and can easily empathize with BLM, I just believe that a dispassionate examination of all factors is required and just hating on the cops not only does not help, it actively hurts.
If god was real he wouldn't need middle men to explain his wants or do his bidding.
