Yes, I base certain positions on fear. Yes, I fear a society in which your child goes to a concert and gets killed by a terrorist. I'm not apologetic about it, as it's common sense. European politicians have been saying that they'll just have to live with terrorism now. I don't want to live in that world if it's avoidable. So far, America has been affected less than Europe due to geography, and I'd like to keep it that way.
I'm not going to put my children at risk because you feel better about yourself for virtue signaling.
I let my son cross streets once I taught him how, even though his odds of being struck and killed by a car were enormously larger than his odds of dying in a terrorist attack.
I refuse to let fear change who I am.
