I, for one, did ask with sincerity. Not just when I was a Mormon, but when I converted to Christianity after realizing my first religion was stupid. It took me a lot less time to figure out that Christianity was no different when I still got no answer. The fact that you are getting an answer says more about your mental state than about whether God exists.
