Yes. Once he's out of office (by failing to get re-elected, conviction in the Senate, or finishing a second term), he can be tried for any crimes committed while in office.
The only difference is that if he is removed via the impeachment process, he can't be pardoned for any criminal acts attached to the impeachment charges.
