When you hear the conservative MAGAts offering various justifications for Trump moving sensitive material from the White House to Mar-a-Lago, it's an attempt at distraction, nothing more.

No, but demonstrating a motive goes a long way toward convincing a jury that he was actively involved in bringing them to Mar-a-lago and had that intent.
Possibly, but I can easily imagine a judge enjoining the jury from considering motive, since the law under which he would (hopefully) be indicted and tried says nothing about motive.
