I have essentially just two kinds of pants now: Black pants (business casual style) for work and for concerts, and loose blue jeans for the rest of the time. Usually I find them in the men's section and then do a bit of tailoring to hem them and take in the waist a bit. Most women's styles are too low-riding on me, and have ridiculously short zippers and tiny little belt loops that don't fit the belts I like.
To put pants on I usually step into them one foot at a time, then pull them up. Taking them off, usually the reverse -- take them down past the ankles and step out of them one foot at a time. If I'm sitting down I sometimes put them on or take them off both feet at once.
