OTOH, "fiscal conservatism" is a term of art for american politicans, it's not like a vote for an r or a d is a vote for fiscal conservatism. Both parties are irresponsibly "pro-business", the only meaningful differences sit in their social platforms. "Paleoconservative" legislators knew this, yelled it at the rooftops...and then then went the way of the dodo for all the good it did them. The bell finally tolled when the Bush (jr) admin rewrote what it meant to be a conservative.
Yes exactly. From what I've seen conservative governments aren't usually fiscally conservative. I would be excited to actually see a government that doesn't want more pork if it can take it. And shocked.
But "pro-business" is a really disturbing mindset. I say this as a business student. It's not the government's role IMHO to pander to businesses, it should be the government's role to do exactly not that. Not the world we live in at all though.
