Some predicted the end times. But to be honest everybody saw America as an enemy that got what they deserve for targeting Muslim civilians..
Mmmm were people around here happy that an American behemoth like the WTC was turned to rubble ? I guess when you bomb the countries of others you can't expect them not to smile when you get the same treatment,,
I don't remember much about the event. The invasion of Iraq in 2003 carried a far more memories
In our species history, there certainly is the old argument of "Point of View" in that one group's hero is another group's villain.
It disturbs me to know that my Japanese X wife's grandparents supported the attack on Pearl Harbor. At the same time, it also disturbs me that it took two acts off mass murder in the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war.
But there cannot be an equivocation between the fascism of Japan, or Hitler vs how America responded to their attacks. Just like I don't want you personally dead because I know you don't like the government you live under. It still remains that Saudi Arabia is not an open pluralistic state. I also have a problem with North Korea and China. I don't want more war at all, but there is still a huge difference between a more open west, and more closed states in the middle east and east.
I am sure you'd agree that Hitler and Stalin were monsters. And as much as I hated what Japan did in starting a war with America, I cannot blame my X wife who wasn't alive then for what happened before she was born. Just like I cannot blame you for what your leaders do even now.
And trust me, while Afghanistan was far more understandable, not everyone in America was happy with the lies that got us into Iraq.
