Ebola was a major concern because it has a stupefyingly high mortality rate. And while we have vaccines for the flu, their efficacy, it should be noted, is very hit and miss.

I was in Sierra Leone with a MSF mission during the ebola outbreak years ago.
It was not a pleasant situation.
