Meanwhile I look at the death reports and I see that people of all ages make an appearance, skewed obviously towards the elderly but not exclusively.
I don't want to be one of those 30 year olds killed by Covid-19. I don't want to die. Why should people die for the magic stock line?
If the economy is so important, why wasn't there protective measures installed before this? Letting people die seems like rewarding that bad behavior of "gains at all costs"
One other point that I keep hearing the news that Agnos disregards and that nobody else seems to have mentioned: If left unchecked, COVID will overrun our hospitals, but just because a pandemic is happening doesn't mean that the other diseases that kill people, shit like heart disease, cancer, strokes, diabetes, accidental poisonings, major injuries, will go on hold. The hospitals get overrun with COVID, NOBODY ELSE can get help. And if you think those diseases are just Boomer problems, you're fucking delusional:
And bear in mind, this isn't just a worse-case scenario. In some parts of the world, New York in particular, that's actually happening.
And, of course, as mentioned before, Boomers aren't even the only people to die from the virus. Case in point: this healthy, 30-year old gym teacher recently died of COVID.
You know who else is 30? Me.
I understand that, on some level, people in power's idea of right and wrong tend to be self-serving, but this isn't just about boomers demanding a temporary reprieve from the inevitable like Spiderman desperately seeking a resurrection for his elderly Aunt May in One More Day. This is about public health for EVERYBODY. If you can look at all that and not at least see why trying to slow the spread is a good idea, well, I don't think anything short of hacking into your brain and changing its Operating System can help you.

Seriously 3-6 months, yes it's tough but we're all going through it.
(Why do we have to repeat this at this stage???)
I think your first line answered your third.
