Britain's low recovery rate might be an artifact of the testing; we're only testing hospitalised cases ATM. So the mild cases aren't showing up.
If you go onto a ventilator there's about a 50% survival rate overall.
If your blood oxygen level drops there's a possibility of organ damage including a 25% rate of kidney failure, so people on ventilators often need blood scrubbers, and if they survive they'll be looking at going on a waiting list for transplant.
