I am a whistler and used to whistle all the time but I've given up the practice along with spitting, although I lose myself sometimes and spit. I seldom hear people whistle a tune. My dad used to whistle a lot so I guess that's why I notice it. When I saw the man had a mask on, my thought was that he was making the best of an uncomfortable situation.
Or maybe, like me, he is panicked in the mask and whistling helps him deal with it. If I could whistle, I might give it a try to help control my breathing.
