Bad news - there is currently 100,000 people hospitalized with Covid 19.
Good news - simple math - that is .03 of 1 percent of the population....
So - Captain Trips it's not.....
The thing with COVID hospitalization is that it's not just a problem due to people with COVID. Having that many people that sick can prevent others from receiving the care they need. Check the news in various parts of the country. ICUs are full to overflowing. I'd have been shit out of luck when I had the heart attack if there wasn't a place for me at the hospital and staff available to put me under and place the stent and tend to me for the following hours when I couldn't move so that the femoral artery wouldn't open up.
It's the ripples out from COVID that people don't think about.
I was reading an article today where the University of Iowa hospital system is at capacity for treating patients due to rampant COVID. Rural hospitals are not prepared, staffed, or have the equipment for this.
It's not just about COVID.
I dunno if you know "Captain Trips" - it was a name given to the superflu in Stephen King's "The Stand" - a military grade, manufactured bug - that had better than a 99 percent mortality rate......
Just saying - it could be much, much worse...
