Of course, I'm joking. I've no interest in being that inbred.
The thing is, they're almost certainly right. Why? Because it turns out if you have any European ancestry, one of those ancestors is almost certainly Charlemagne. And this isn't hyperbole; this appears to be a fact of genetics and genealogy. For what it's worth, my Dad has found at least two lines of ancestry with a direct line to Charlemagne.

Thus the giggle. I know about the genetics, but when people make that claim as if they were some sort of royalty because of it, I have to laugh. I have no pretensions of being royal, and would be a republican in the UK, if I understand the term correctly, as used there. I realize that the royals attract money for the realm, but I hope that I'm never in that company; I would never kneel, like "Sir Ronnie" did.
