Hmm. When guys screwed up in boot camp, they just got "set back" some number of weeks, until they finally got with the program. I honestly think that boot camp was a cake walk, except for all the stupid in-your-face yelling, and the sleep deprivation. Little known fact- I overheard my company commander mention to some other recruits that the Navy allowed a recruit 6 months to complete boot camp. Those would be those Category IV educable mentally retarded guys. There didn't actually seem to be much in the way of forgiveness and sending people out the gate, in my time, though. That was in '73.
