You're not considering what I just said. Nothing tells you these two actions in bold are disjoint in time, plus the Arabic version doesn't have this problem.
It's correct to say in Arabic for example : "I spent ten days in Paris then moved to Rouen for thirteen days", while the subject spent merely 3 days in Rouen. The sentence does look problematic when translated.
