Of Course I've read 1984 and seen both films. ( The first one is better imo) In the book, Smith's girlfriend Julia is a member of the anti sex league. In the IT age that kind of control doesn't seem as fanciful.
Seems we were making the same point.
Don't worry I was drunkish at the time and being unusually laconic. But the point in the book that by making people frustrated and unable to access their natural proclivities is a great way to control them in other areas is one that has been found by many authoritarian groups down the years.
My dear old mum advised me " Never write letters or such when you're drunk or angry" I learned the hard way over many years. So much easier to fuck up with the immediacy of the internet. But, your post seems lucid enough to me. However, 'laconic' isn't a word which popped into my head.
