[STUDY] Dissertation Research Study Needs Atheists
Permissions to post granted by administrators Moros Synackaon and Moderators! Thank you!

Hi there!
Thank you SO much for reading my post!
My name is Robyn Moran and I am currently working on my Doctoral Dissertation in Clinical Psychology.
I was wondering if I might have a few minutes to help me with my research.
You could even win a $50 VISA Gift Card in the process!

https://alliant.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2nkj15OhiMoe7E8

I am studying the influence of confession on perceived well being in Protestant Christian and Atheist and Agnostic groups, and was wondering if I could ask you to spare 15-30 minutes to answer an anonymous online survey.
In this instance, confession is being defined as an interpersonal act of disclosure (such as telling someone else that you have done something that you regret).
It is NOT being used in a religious sense.

If you choose, you may enter your name separately at the conclusion of the survey to be entered into a raffle to WIN one of two $50 VISA gift cards!
I am only enrolling 130 participants, so the odds of winning are fairly good!
Also, you will be given an ADDITIONAL raffle entry for every person who says that you referred them to the study! (Please, refer away!)

I am seeking Atheists and Christians who are 18 or older, living in the USA and willing to answer this 1 time only questionnaire.
This is a private research study and ALL of your information will be kept confidential
(Note, you do not have to be BORN in the USA to qualify, you need only live in the USA or have lived in the USA Grin)

If you have a few moments, would you please consider taking my survey?

The link can be found at: https://alliant.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2nkj15OhiMoe7E8

Also, would you “Like” the Facebook Fanpage so that you can follow the research study and encourage your friends to take it, too!
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Confession...00?sk=wall

Please spread the word to your family, friends and community and you will receive extra raffle entries!
I have a limited time to collect my data and would like to include as many people as possible.

Thank you so much for considering advancing the sciences!!

Spreading Smiles,
Robyn Moran

I'll be glad to take your survey.

But I won't "like" anything on Facebook. Call it a pet peeve.

Hi, Minimalist!
Thank you so much for being willing to take my survey!
I really appreciate it!
I totally understand not "liking" it on Facebook- I don't do much Facebook liking, either.
Smile
Facebook Fanpages are just an easy way to publish the study when its done without having to fiddle too much with creating a website for people to view the results in 6 months.

Again, I really, truly appreciate your taking the study!
Thank you so much!
Good luck in the Gift Card raffle!

I don't quite understand. First, confession is a Catholic practice so why would Protestants do it? Second, why would an atheist who doesn't believe in god (or sin) confess his sins?

Me and my twelve other personalities would love, like, love, hate, loathe, abhor, find the idea fun, SPLORK, be entertained by, kill, hug, hug harder, and am indifferent to the questionaire you've presented.
Though I have to agree that given that I don't have a religion nor believe in god, jesus, or the idea of sin, the act of confession in a religious sense is equally meaningless to me, but we'll see where it goes.

Yay! Raffle!
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

I totally understand the confusion.
"Confession" is being defined as interpersonal disclosure, in this sense. In other words, talking to someone else or admitting something to someone else. Smile
Thank you (thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you) for taking my survey.
(Thats a thank you for each of your 12 personalities)

I totally understand the confusion. Confession, for the purpose of this study, is defined as interpersonal disclosure (talking to someone else) about something that you feel that you have done wrong or that bothers you.

Thank you for considering taking my study!
