You have to realize that the New Testament says anything which is not of Christ is of Satan. So Christians can regard anything which is not in their definition of being Christ's of being of Satan.

This line of reasoning leads to assumptions being made like Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection being from Satan, among other things.

Fortuntely the scientific revolution of the 17th century and the Enlightenment of the 18th, led even a lot of "bible believers" to think much more rationally than their counterparts before that time. Hence why we dont have many people saying that mental illness being caused by demons anymore or that people who hold different religious views be considered demon possessed heretics deserving of being burnt alive.
